We have been hooked on the Polaris General when we bought one back in 2015 to ride at our family farm in Southwest Wisconsin. The first thing we did was go out and look for roof and windshield, as we didn’t want to pay the crazy prices the dealership was charging for the OEM accessories. Well we couldn’t find a roof or windshield anywhere and that was how Everything Polaris General was born. We had knowledge of the UTV industry and how to build websites, so we built the first and only website in the world dedicated to Polaris General parts and accessories and never looked back!
Since the early days of 2015 and 2016 we have bought and sold many General 1000 XP and General 1000 4 models. We love the versatility they provide by being able to go fast and have great control but can still use them for work on the farm, with decent sized rear cargo bed area and great towing capacity. Polaris was spot on when they created this machine, very innovative and perfect for what we use our UTV’s for. Love the General!
How is the General different than the RZR and Ranger?
The Polaris General is basically set up if the RZR and Ranger had a baby, it is a crossover, hybrid of the two famous Polaris Models. The General has the performance and speed of the RZR but the overall function and form of the Ranger, with great towing capacity and rear cargo space.
What is the top speed of a General?
The Polaris General Top speed is 65-72 MPH with a 100 horsepower 4 store Engine. Pretty bad ass machine!
Best accessories for a Polaris General XP 1000 and General 1000
The best accessories are specific to an individual’s uses of the General but overall the sales of these categories are the highest: Windshields, doors, bumpers, roofs, tires, and mirrors.
Are OEM or aftermarket accessories better for the Polaris General
Both OEM and aftermarket have their own advantages and disadvantages, so lets review. OEM can be financed with your machine purchase, which is nice, and can be installed at the dealership if you are not handy or don’t want to mess with it. But there are a ton more options with aftermarket accessories and they tend to be about 50% of the cost.
In 2022 we got the Trailhead Edition, and in 2023, Polaris expanded its lineup to include the 2023 and 2024 Polaris General XP 1000 Sport (64 inch wide model) . This model is cheaper than the Premium and Ultimate trim packages, yet still comes decked out with factory accessories like half doors, a low-profile bumper, and a 4,500 Lb winch. Plus, with 30” tires Pro Armor tires, 14 inches of travel, a 600 Lb dump bed, and on-demand AWD with Versatrac Turf Mode, this vehicle is equipped to handle anything you might encounter on the trail. And because it’s an entry-level machine that’s reasonably priced, the 2023 and 2024 Polaris General XP 1000 Sport is sure to bring first-time riders into the fold!
